Confidentiality is respected, valued and protected. The Professional code of ethics of social workers prevents the sharing of clients’ information and records without their written consent. There are limits to confidentiality when there is a need to prevent a clear and immediate danger to a person or when the law mandates it. Social workers are required by law to report abuse and suspected abuse of children.
Voice mail is available 24/7. If you do not reach me directly, I will attempt to call you within 24 hours (business days) to set up a counselling appointment of mutual convenience.
Please call 416-767-0027 and press #1 to leave a confidential message. If I am on holidays or have a wait list, it will be indicated on my voice mail.
After an initial telephone discussion, an assessment interview will be arranged if you wish to proceed. During the first meeting, I will discuss your particular situation and different options and if appropriate, we will begin to develop goals and a plan. Initial counselling sessions can be longer than one hour depending on the situation. Following this interview, meetings are set up at a frequency decided by you. The frequency of counselling sessions can be adjusted at any time. Couples tend to prefer an hour and a half meeting.
Many insurance companies now cover registered Social Work counselling services. Fees are payable at the end of each meeting and receipts for services are submitted by you to your provider for reimbursement. I accept cheque or cash.
If you must cancel a counselling appointment, as much notice as possible is greatly appreciated. If I am able to fill your appointment there will be no charge. If the appointment is not filled, you will be expected to pay the fee.
